I have lots of childhood memories, its smell can bring back so many memories. The childhood smell can bring me back to my past and fill my heart full of joy and wonderful memories. The greatest memory that I can remember my grandmother used to make Custard Cream Buns for my childhood days. When my grandmother used to do this recipe then I saw her smiling face. As a child, I would spend a lot of time with my grandparents, it was so much fun that time. That was a great moment, spending time with my grandmother and making such beautiful memories like this.

My grandma's Vanilla Custard Cream Buns


Today I eagerly want to share my grandmother's unbelievable recipe Vanilla Custard Cream Buns. This custard cream bun is very popular in Japan. When I bite this bun then the cream is melting in my mouth and the bread is fluffy, this feeling is just great.


Vanilla Custard Cream Buns:


Ingredients:


Bread flour 150 gm

Cake flour 50 gm

Butter 30 gm

Sugar 30 gm

Non-fat dry milk powder 10 gm

Salt 2 gm

Beaten eggs 30 gm

Water 100 ml

Instant dry yeast 4 gm


Vanilla Custard Cream: 


Egg  yolks 4

Brown sugar 60 gm

Vanilla Essence 2 tsp

Corn starch 8 gm

Milk 300 ml


As per my grandma's instruction:


At first, I made the dough using a hand blender. I took a baking pan and combined all the ingredients bread flour, cake flour, cake flour, butter, sugar, non-fat dry milk powder, salt, beaten egg, and water and placed all the ingredients into the bread maker and cover it.

Then I added the instant dry yeast to the mixture and while making dough.

After making dough, this process will take about 1 hour.

 I made bun cream while the dough process is going on. I broke the egg yolks and added the sugar.

I beat the mixture until it began to lighten in color.

I placed the strainer over the bowl and added the cake flour cornstarch. I combined the mixture thoroughly.

Adding cornstarch to the mixture looked like a creamy texture and thick consistency. The cornstarch will help this creamy mixture getting translucent.

Then I heat the milk in a pot and half a portion of milk added to the egg mixture. I combined all the mixture and whisked very well until it's looked fluffy.

The bun cream begins to turn glossy, then I added 1 tsp vanilla extract and mixed it very well.

I took a clean bowl and poured some iced water and poured the vanilla cream into it.

After the fermentation of the dough, I removed the dough from the baking pan and placed it on the board.

I cut the dough into an oval shape. After getting the oval shape the dough ball placed on the board and I used a rolling pin, shaping it into a flat oval.

Then I poured some vanilla cream on the dough, wrapped it tightly. I have good skills to wrap dough.

I placed all the dough baking tray and wrapped it into a plastic sheet. All the dough placed into the oven for 220 degrees Celcius, It takes 15 to 20 minutes.

When the buns reached perfect golden brown color then I removed the bread and placed the buns on the cooling rack.

Finally, the Vanilla Custard Cream Buns are ready to eat.

If you like the chocolate flavor then you can also add chocolate cream into the buns.

This is my grandmother one of the great recipes, I just shared with you guys. This childhood memory reminds beautiful things in my life, this memory can never fade.
