Today my destination is one of the awesome lakes is called Gurudongmer lake.
Gurudongmer Lake is one of the beautiful lakes in Sikkim state. Gurudongmer lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and India. Gurudongmer lake is located at an altitude of 17800 feet in the Indian state of Sikkim.
The lake is situated in North Sikkim,190 kilometers away from Gangtok and 5 kilometers away from the Tibetian border. Indian tourists are allowed to visit free but foreigners need to get special permission from the Ministery of Home Affairs in Delhi.
The surface area of the lake is 290 acres. The lake fed by glaciers is located at the Kanchenjungha range. The lake is connected with Tibetian Plateau. The lake remained completely frozen in the winter season.
The lake is fresh water and very clear and the color of the lake is a turquoise color. According to history, when Padmasambhava visited the lake and saw an auspicious phenomenon that's why it's known as Guru Dongmer.
The best time to visit Gurudongmer lake is June to November. I visited the lake the last week of May. I hired a private jeep from Lachen. Gurudongmer lake is crystal clear water with spectacular scenic beauty. The lake is considered to be carrying significance of Buddist and Sikh religion. Traveling Gurudongmer lake the road site scenery was also marvelous.
The surprising fact about the lake is in extreme Winter, a part of the lake is never frozen. The lake has an amazing view of Mount Kanchenjungha Siniolchu. The lake is an extremely popular and attractive place for tourists destination and admirable treks. The weather is super cool. Tourists enjoyed it a lot.
I enjoyed the view bottom of my heart. I can't imagine what a beauty I have never seen in the whole of my life.
There was a nearby Indo-Tibetian border and the place is very sensitive from the military point of view.
The spectacular view always remembered in my mind. I clicked all the pictures at every angle of the lake. This is my whole life collection. Every time I will recall my memory then I will get speechless.
After traveling to Gurudongmer lake I returned back to the hotel. The whole day was hectic but the experience was out of the world.
