Maha Shivratri is one of the major festivals which is observed in honor of Lord Shiva. This year Maha Shivratri is celebrated on 11 March 2021 which is Thursday. Maha Shivratri means "The Great Night of Lord Shiva".

According to the Hindu Panchang, the Maha Shivratri festival is celebrated every year on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Prakash of Phalgun month. The festival will commence on March 11 at 2.39 p.m.and end at 3.02 p.m. the next day.
On this day the devotees conduct overnight vigils, worship the "shivling" and chant the name of Lord Shiva. People fasting for Shivratri they should avoid consuming wheat, rice, and pulse.
Shivratri Festivals are celebrated at night. Offerings of fruits, leaves, sweets, and milk to Bhagaban Shiva are made, some perform all-day fasting Vedic worship of Bhagaban Shiva. The Shiva mantra is "OM NAMAH SHIVAYA".Devotees praise Shiva through the recitation of Shiv Chalisa.
The event is very auspicious. The celebration includes maintaining a "Jagran" and prayers. All devotees prayed for their success and lifelong. After finished their puja prasad are distributed to all of them.
The Maha Shivratri is important to Hindu people and they celebrated full of devotion.
